Gifts of the Holy Spirit

Jesus invites us into relationship with Him, as he is with the Father, through the power of the Holy Spirit! The Holy Spirit gives us gifts so that we can live in Him and live out the Kingdom of God.

The video below explains a simple exercise in asking the Holy Spirit for these gifts. This exercise is best done with your family. Together, you can ask the Holy Spirit for the gifts you need.

Here are the supplies you need:

  • A candle (either the one in your Pentecost bag, or one you have at home, or one you draw)

  • Cards / labels for each of the candles: delight in the Lord, strength, wisdom, knowledge of the Lord, understanding, fear if the Lord, and counsel.

  • a candle lighter (or markers/crayons/pencil crayons if you are drawing a candle)

  • If you are drawing a candle you will need: paper, or you can use a phone/tablet

Exercise:

  • Think of the gift of the Holy Spirit you would like to receive

  • As you light the candle (or as you colour it in), pray and ask the Holy Spirit for this gift.
