Lectio Divina on John 14:6-7
Lectio Divina (lek-tee-oh de-veen-ah) is latin for “Divine Reading.”
It is a monastic practice (meaning monks and nuns practice it!) where you read the Bible to listen to God and to hear from God. Sometimes we read the Bible to study it, but with Lectio Divina we read it to listen and receive from God.
Take some time with your family now to read John 14:6-7. You can take turns reading it out loud. Between each reading, leave some quiet time to reflect and pray.
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
Instructions
First, be still. Be quiet, and be mindful that you are in the presence of God.
Second, read. Read slowly and out loud.
Third, meditate. Reflect on what you have heard.
Fourth, pray.
Fifth, contemplate. Wait for God.
Repeat as many times as you like.
